The Cathedral Meadows was constructed on an old factory site in the south of Bury St Edmunds adjacent to the Holy Water Meadows in about 1998. The property company was Land Charter Homes Ltd. The planning of the site and the architecture of all the buildings are very pleasant and the visual appeal of the site tends to blend so well with our neighbourhood housing.
The site is very sensitive to its surroundings, especially considering its close proximity to the Water Meadows The variety of houses, the well designed road-ways,
incorporation of Existing trees and investigation of new trees all contributed to its success.
Significantly good aspects of the development include:
Good house designs incorporating variety of brick, roof tile and paint finishes.
A ‘natural’ roadway with inbuilt brick design to identify road and pedestrian access.
Levelled and rotovated gardens allowed by residents to develop their own designs.
Well designed drives and parking areas
The incorporation of some very good small features such as the ‘Victorian’ style road lights and stone features which enhance the style of the development
The Resident’s Association has its annual A.G.M. where we discuss more up and coming developments !
